Vincitori del concorso “Wool4School” Italia 2019/2020 - Marzotto Tessuti
THE WOOLMARK COMPANY AND MARZOTTO ANNOUNCE THE WINNERS OF THE “WOOL4SCHOOL” ITALIA 2019/2020 CONTEST.
“We have been positively surprised by the projects received by the students that, despite the complex period, had perfectly taken up the challenge launched by The Woolmark Company. We were able to view some very interesting works that highlighted the natural characteristics of the wool fibre, such as performance and functionality. The projects were also in line with Marzotto’s DNA, which for years has perfectly combined Italian know-how and traditions to strong innovations within all our products. We would like to thank The Woolmark Company for this journey and we hope to welcome the overall winner, Giorgia Cattunar, to our company soon. She will have the opportunity to undertake a complete training experience in the field, working with our creative teams and closely following all the production phases”. Giorgio Todesco, CEO of Marzotto Wool Manufacturing.
The Woolmark Company and Marzotto are proud to announce the winners of 2019/20 edition of Wool4School Italia, a design competition that invites secondary school students to experiment with the infinite potential of wool through their imagination and creativity.
More than 4500 students from over 58 schools of nine different Italian regions have registered for the competition, demonstrating their desire to test themselves and to promote their innovative ideas. This year, students were tasked to design a garment or outfit using 80% wool and incorporating the use of technology to improve both performance and functionality

The winner of the competition is Giorgia Cattunar from Liceo Artistico Enrico e Umberto Nordio in Trieste, who now has the opportunity to turn her winning design into reality and undertake a two- week internship in Valdagno, in Marzotto Mill. Combining wool, the most natural and sustainable fibre, with “Crabyon”, an innovative fibre taken from crustacean shells, she proved there is a viable alternative to synthetic materials, giving rise to a new and technological way to "reconnect" ourselves with the world of nature. This was possible through wifi headphones, which thanks to an algorithm based on heartbeat, GPS and weather conditions, creates personalised sounds for a greater psychophysical wellbeing of the wearer.
Giulia Gaeta from ISIS Newton (Varese), Antonietta Di Caprio from I.S.I.S.S Enrico Mattei (Caserta) and Giorgia Cattunar from Liceo Artistico Enrico e Umberto Nordio (Trieste) are the respective winners for the 3rd, 4th and 5th Year of studies who will each receive a graphics tablet valued at 500 euro as well as a trophy.
The finalists and winners were selected by a jury of experts from key sectors for the fashion and textile industry, which included:
• Franco Fabrello, Chief Designer at Marzotto Group
• Loreto di Rienzo, R&D and Commercial Director at Dyloan Bond Factory
• Francesco Magri, Regional Manager Continental Europe of The Woolmark Company
