GLOBAL COMPANIES & LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Economic development is a necessary for maintaining and developing the quality of local life, as well as an opportunity to involve new generations in determining their own future.

 

This reflection by Marco Mari, CEO of “Italian Innovation”, led to a discussion of international and local experiences focused on how small communities, such as that of Valdagno, can position themselves globally without losing their local identity and succeed in attracting international talent.

 

The round table chaired by Alexandra Fatal, journalist of The Economist, saw the participation of:

  • Debra Dunn, University of Stanford Lecturer
  • Vincent Stanley, Head of Philosophy of Patagonia
  • Giorgio Todesco, CEO of Marzotto Wool Manufacturing

During the meeting, Professor Debra Dunn suggested that the four fundamental pillars for company growth are: stakeholder prioritization and the inevitable social role of companies, governance, the definition of goals and success metrics, and, finally, strategic communications.

 

Vincent Stanley, the very first employee of Patagonia, and, today, its Head of Philosophy, explained what coherent adherence to the values ​​ofsocial and environmental responsibility means, and how this can be integrated into day-to-day business.

 

Finally, Giorgio Todesco, CEO of Marzotto Wool Manufacturing, recounted Marzotto's experience and vision in relation to the wool textile chain, the importance of building transparent relations and collaborations with all stakeholders, and the Group's commitment to integrating itself with all of the local areas and communities in which it operates. We would like to thank “Guanxinet” for organizing the evening, and giving us the opportunity to meet with such excellent guests.
